Suffolk County Clinic Offers ADHD Evaluation for Children and Adolescents
East Setauket, United States - November 6, 2026 / Resilience Psychiatry /
Resilience Psychiatry is offering psychiatrist-led ADHD evaluations for children and teens at its East Setauket office, giving Suffolk County families a way to get clear answers when attention, behavior or schoolwork becomes a concern. Evaluations are led by Dr. Jessica Carbajal Cáceda, a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, and new child patients are usually seen within one week.
Trouble focusing, restlessness, forgotten assignments and frustration over homework can come from ADHD, but they can also come from anxiety, sleep problems, learning differences or stress at home or school. Many children have more than one of these at the same time. According to the CDC, about 4 in 10 children with ADHD also have anxiety. Sorting out what is actually driving a child's struggles is the purpose of a careful evaluation.
"Parents often come to us after hearing many different opinions," said Dr. Carbajal Cáceda. "A thorough evaluation looks at the whole child: development, sleep, school, family history and how things look at home and in the classroom. That gives families a clear picture and a plan that fits their child."
Each evaluation includes a detailed parent interview, age-appropriate time with the child, review of school input such as report cards, teacher comments and standardized rating scales, and a feedback visit that explains the findings in plain language. Recommendations may include parent guidance, behavioral strategies, school supports, therapy, and medication when clinically appropriate. Families receive documentation they may share with their school when requesting accommodations.
Teens age 15 and older may also see Dr. Rachel Spector, a board-eligible psychiatrist who treats adolescent and adult ADHD. Follow-up care is available in person in East Setauket and through secure telepsychiatry for eligible patients. Care is available in English and Spanish.
Families can book online through Zocdoc from the practice website or call (631) 371-4844.
