Chaberton Energy Completes 33 Distributed Energy Projects, Reaches 125 MW

PR Newswire

  • The distributed energy developer has delivered 33 projects for a total of 125 megawatts of solar and storage across the United States and Italy.

  • Six years of growth reflect a company built on disciplined development, deep community investment and an expanding vision for the future of distributed energy.

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chaberton Energy is celebrating its sixth anniversary with a milestone that reflects the scope and pace of its growth. The company has completed development on 33 projects totaling more than 125 megawatts (MW) of distributed energy capacity. Given that most of Chaberton's projects range from 2 MW to 10 MW in size, the achievement represents dozens of communities across the United States and Italy being powered by locally generated, affordable energy.

"Six years ago, we started Chaberton with the conviction that distributed energy — community solar, battery storage, projects sized for the places they serve — was the right way to build a more equitable, efficient and resilient grid while contributing to the clean energy transition," said Stefano Ratti, CEO and founder of Chaberton Energy. "Crossing 125 megawatts of developed projects is a meaningful proof point, but what I'm most proud of is that we got here by earning the trust of landowners, communities and partners one project at a time."

Building a Foundation for What's Next
The 125 MW milestone sits within a broader portfolio that now includes more than 100 projects representing over 500 MWdc of distributed energy under site control, with a development pipeline exceeding 1 gigawatt.

In 2025 alone, six of Chaberton's community solar projects totaling 17 MW in Delaware and Maryland reached mechanical completion, bringing affordable, locally generated electricity to the subscribers and communities that need it most.

Expanding Battery Energy Storage Offerings
Chaberton's sixth year also marked a deliberate focus on bringing more battery energy storage systems (BESS) to our markets. Where conventional generation is fixed, storage is flexible. It can capture excess energy when supply is high and deliver it when demand peaks. Whether paired with solar or developed as standalone resources, BESS positions Chaberton and the communities it serves at the leading edge of grid resilience, addressing a need that goes beyond managing solar variability.

"Battery storage changes the conversation," said Mike Doniger, Chaberton's president and co-founder. "More than solving generation needs, BESS helps provide electricity when and where it's most critically needed. That's a more complete answer to what communities and grid operators need to address the current energy affordability challenge."

Investing in the Communities We Serve
Growth at Chaberton has never been measured in megawatts alone. Through Chaberton Cares, the company gives back to the communities where it develops projects. The program provides $5,000 per megawatt of new distributed energy built and has supported 25 nonprofit organizations focused on expanding opportunities for future leaders and providing resources to underserved populations.

Looking Ahead
With a 1+ GW pipeline, growing BESS capabilities and an enduring commitment to the communities it serves, Chaberton enters its next chapter as a company that has grown from a regional community solar developer into a national distributed energy company.

"We're proud of what we've built," Ratti said. "And we're just getting started."
